Botox Units and Price in Dubai — How Dosing Actually Works (2026)

A doctor-led explanation of how Botox is dosed and priced in Dubai: what a unit is, why area-based and unit-based pricing differ, typical dose ranges by treatment area, what changes your quote, and how to compare clinics honestly.

Almost every Botox enquiry in Dubai begins with the same question — how much does it cost — and almost every honest answer begins by explaining that price follows dose, and dose follows your anatomy. Two patients asking for the same treated area can need meaningfully different amounts of product, because muscle strength, muscle size and the pattern of movement differ from face to face. Understanding how dosing works is the single most useful thing you can do before comparing quotes.

This guide explains what a unit of botulinum toxin actually is, why clinics price by unit or by area, what typically drives the number up or down, and how to read a quote so you are comparing like with like. It is general information rather than a personal treatment plan — the appropriate dose for you is decided in consultation after your muscles are assessed in movement.

What is a Botox unit?

A unit is a standardised measure of botulinum toxin activity, not a measure of volume. It is the currency the product is supplied and prescribed in, which is why doctors talk about units rather than millilitres. Critically, units are not interchangeable between brands: the unit scale for one botulinum toxin product does not map one-to-one onto another. A number that sounds high in one brand's scale can be an ordinary dose in another's.

This is the first place price comparisons go wrong. If one clinic quotes a per-unit price for one product and another quotes a per-unit price for a different product, the two numbers are not directly comparable — you have to know the brand, the total units and the treated areas before the comparison means anything.

Why dose varies so much between patients

Botulinum toxin works by temporarily reducing the contraction of the specific muscles it is placed in. The dose needed to soften a movement depends on how strong and how large that muscle is. Several factors are assessed in consultation:

  • Muscle bulk and strength. Stronger, thicker muscles — often, though not always, in men and in patients who are very expressive — generally need more product to soften.
  • The depth of the lines at rest. Lines that are only visible on movement behave differently from lines etched into the skin, which usually need skin-quality treatments alongside, not simply more toxin.
  • The result you want. A softened, still-mobile look and a strongly reduced movement are different briefs and different doses. This is a conversation, not a default.
  • Your treatment history. Patients who have been treated regularly sometimes need less over time; patients who have had long gaps often return closer to their original requirement.
  • Facial balance. Treating one area can change how neighbouring muscles behave, so doctors plan the face as a whole rather than area by area in isolation.

Typical treatment areas and how they are dosed

The upper face accounts for most treatments. The frown lines between the brows generally take the largest share of the dose because the muscles there are strong. Forehead lines are dosed more conservatively and always in relation to the frown, because treating the forehead in isolation can leave the brow heavy. Crow's feet at the outer eye are dosed per side and adjusted to how much you want to retain natural crinkling when you smile.

Beyond the upper face, smaller doses are used for a gummy smile, downturned mouth corners, chin dimpling and neck bands, while jawline slimming for masseter hypertrophy and treatment for excessive underarm sweating use their own, quite different dose ranges. Because these ranges vary widely and depend on assessment, we do not publish fixed numbers online — your doctor will show you the planned map and total before anything is injected.

Per-unit pricing versus per-area pricing

Clinics in Dubai use both models, and neither is inherently better. Per-unit pricing is transparent about product but can rise if you need more than expected. Per-area pricing is predictable but only fair if the clinic defines what an area includes and does not under-dose to protect its margin. What matters is that the model is explained before treatment and that the quote states the brand, the areas and the expected total.

A useful test when comparing clinics: ask what happens if the review at two weeks shows an area needs a small adjustment. A clinic that includes a review and a top-up policy in the plan is quoting for an outcome; a clinic quoting only for the injection is quoting for a product.

What legitimately changes your quote

Several things move the number for good clinical reasons rather than commercial ones. Treating more areas obviously increases the dose. Strong muscles need more product. Combination planning — where movement is softened and skin quality is treated separately with Profhilo or skin boosters — changes the shape of the plan and its cost. And a first treatment often differs from maintenance, because the first session establishes your response and later sessions refine it.

What should not change the number is pressure at the chair. A dose decided under time pressure, or increased mid-treatment without discussion, is a red flag regardless of the headline price.

Cheap Botox in Dubai — what the discount usually buys

Very low prices generally come from one of three places: a smaller dose than the area needs, a product handled or diluted outside its licensed instructions, or a treatment delivered without proper medical assessment and follow-up. All three cost more later — either in a result that fades quickly, or in an outcome that needs time and expertise to correct.

Botulinum toxin is a prescription medicine. In Dubai it should be prescribed and administered by a licensed practitioner in a licensed medical facility, with the product stored and reconstituted correctly and a documented plan in your file. Asking where the product is sourced and who is injecting is entirely reasonable, and any good clinic will answer plainly.

How long a treatment lasts and what that means for cost

Botulinum toxin is temporary. Movement gradually returns over a period of months, and the interval before retreatment varies with dose, area, muscle strength, metabolism and activity levels. Rather than thinking about the price of one session, it is more useful to think in terms of an annual plan: how many sessions your pattern of movement realistically needs across a year, and whether some of your budget is better directed at skin quality rather than more toxin.

That trade-off matters. Where lines are etched into the skin at rest, adding more toxin is not the answer — collagen-focused treatments such as Scarlet S RF microneedling or fractional CO2 laser resurfacing address the skin itself, and are often planned alongside a modest injectable dose rather than instead of one.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Which product are you using, and what is the unit scale?
  • How many units are planned, and for which areas?
  • Who is injecting, and what is their licence and experience with this area?
  • Is a two-week review included, and what is your policy if an adjustment is needed?
  • What is the total, in writing, before treatment begins?

Booking a Botox consultation in Dubai

At Silk Clinics in Dubai Healthcare City, dosing is decided in a doctor consultation: your muscles are assessed in movement, the planned map and total are shown to you, and a review appointment is scheduled so the result can be refined. Suitability is confirmed first — botulinum toxin is not appropriate for everyone, and there are situations where we will recommend deferring or treating a different problem instead. For a broader view of where injectables fit against volume treatments, our guide comparing Botox and dermal fillers is a useful next read, and aftercare guidance covers the first 48 hours.

Frequently asked questions

How many Botox units will I need?
It depends on which areas are treated, how strong those muscles are, how deep your lines are at rest and the degree of softening you want. Because the range is wide and brand unit scales differ, the number is decided in consultation after your muscles are assessed in movement — and shown to you as a planned map and total before treatment begins.
Is Botox priced per unit or per area in Dubai?
Both models are used. Per-unit pricing is transparent about product but varies with dose; per-area pricing is predictable but only fair when the clinic defines what an area includes. What matters is that the brand, the areas and the expected total are stated in writing before treatment.
Are Botox units the same across all brands?
No. Unit scales are product-specific and do not convert one-to-one between brands. Comparing a per-unit price between two clinics is only meaningful once you know which product each is quoting for and how many units are planned.
View more frequently asked questions (4)
Why is Botox cheaper at some Dubai clinics?
Usually because the dose is smaller than the area needs, the product is handled outside its licensed instructions, or the treatment is delivered without proper assessment and follow-up. Botulinum toxin is a prescription medicine and should be prescribed and administered by a licensed practitioner in a licensed facility.
Does a stronger dose make results last longer?
Not reliably, and it is not a safe way to think about dosing. Duration varies with area, muscle strength, metabolism and activity, and over-dosing to chase longevity risks an unnatural, heavy result. Your doctor plans the smallest effective dose for the look you want and reviews it.
Should I spend my budget on more Botox or on skin treatments?
It depends on whether your lines are dynamic or etched at rest. Movement lines respond to botulinum toxin; lines etched into the skin need collagen-focused treatment such as RF microneedling or fractional resurfacing. Many plans combine a modest injectable dose with a skin-quality treatment rather than increasing toxin.
Is a review appointment included?
At Silk Clinics a review is scheduled around two weeks after treatment, once the effect has settled, so small adjustments can be discussed. Ask any clinic about its review and adjustment policy before booking — a quote for an outcome includes it, a quote for a product often does not.
